Handmade Arkansas, May Day Art & Fine Craft Show

In keeping with our first event (Handmade for the Holidays),
we are again looking for artists and crafters who bring a fresh, modern
perspective and a friendly personality. We invite young start-up crafters as
well as established artists to submit their applications. We are especially looking for artists
who have reinterpreted or reinvented traditional craft items and who embrace a philosophy of local action. Those
who work with recycled/upcycled materials are encouraged to apply.
Handmade books, photography, jewelry, paintings, wood
crafts, pottery, greeting cards, whatever you are doing – we’d love to see
it. This will be a juried fair and
participants will be chosen by the selection committee for inclusion. We believe in the talent in our
community and look forward to meeting you!

This is a three-day event Beginning April 1st-3rd with visiting Illustration Artist, a
kindergarten through College Student Comic/Graphic sequence Art Competition and Exhibit,
and hands-on workshops sponsored by various colleges.
DELIVER STUDENT ARTWORK Saturday March 27th- 31st
Limit two works per teacher per grade, per school, please fill out all information,
bundle your student artwork, attach inventory sheet prior delivery. All forms are

“Last Radio Show”

March 5th Gallery Walk 5:00-9:00pm Opening reception for
A Traveling show known as “The Last Radio Show” featuring the history through 28 Transistor Radios dating back to WW1 and the layered Images of Jeri Hillis.
“Hillis’ work expresses her fascination with time and memory, and questions the thresholds between what is real and that which is imagined. Hillis’ work has been exhibited in museums and galleries in France, Puerto Rico, the Netherlands Antilles, Haiti, Santo Domingo, the Dominican Republic, St. Croix, New England, and Arkansas, and is held in numerous private collections. In 2008, she was selected for the “Small Works on Paper Exhibition” for which she received a purchase award for the permanent collection of the Arkansas Arts Council.”(Little Rock Contemporary Art ExaminerRuth Mitchell)

Adult Collage Painting Class Tuesday 6:00-8:00

Create amazing collages using a variety of colored and textured papers, with fabrics, strings, and ribbons. Every student will leave with at least one ready to show work of art. In addition, instructor Terri Menefee will introduce the popular Artist Trading Cards. Students will produce several cards in various media, including dry media (pencils, pens, markers, etc.), wet media (watercolor, acrylic paints, etc.), paper media ( stencils, paper cuts, found objects, etc.).

Class designed for All levels. Total cost $80. Members $125. non-members for instructor and supplies (class size limited, registration required).

Wow, it’s 2010!! classes start this Monday Jan. 4th. Welcome to our new students, Hugs to all our returning smiles. We are so excited about the new classes. I Look forward to art making with “ya all”, rest up it’s going to be sooo much fun. From Ms. Dana, Ms. Becca, Mr. Marc, and myself, ( Emma Lou, Angel, and Grim the cat) Happy New Year.
